Did you know that the Bakery Restaurant building proudly displays a historical marker containing the following information about the location of the building: "Near Trammel’s Trace, a road charted 1813, used by thousands of settlers migrating to Texas, the site was owned 1868 by D.B Culberson, later a Congressman and Lawyer for Defense in the Diamond Bessie Murder Trial. Culberson’s two-story building here, was the original site for the Chesterfield Club, the East Texas Elite Social Group. 1870-1930: The present structure was built about 1900. It housed horses and buggies for public hire until auto age."
